On October 4th I made my way to the dome in London to see visions of Atlantis a band known for playing metal dressed as pirates. Waiting for the doors to open you could see people dressed as pirates joining the queue.

The evening started with Seraina Telli, an energetic 3-piece band from Switzerland. Seraina opened the show with a bang with the catchy “Addicted To Colour”. Her set was short but memorable and left the crowd wanting more.

They were another great band, though personally, I think that the band overused the smoke machines . At times, they were completely invisible. Nevertheless, they put on a great performance and really built anticipation for Visions of Atlantis.

visions of atlantis Visions of Atlantis opened with the beautiful “To Those Who Choose to Fight” showing off Clémentine Delauney excellent vocals, before bringing the rest of the band onto the stage. Visions of Atlantis have really shown what a Pirate Metal show can be like. Performing on a stage resembling a pirate ship they took the audience onto a journey into the band’s world. “Monsters” and “Heroes Of The Dawn”showed the crowd's excitement as everyone was singing along to the songs. During a few songs like “Legion Of The Seas” there was even a small mosh pit. And honestly, the pit was one of the best I have been in. Everyone was super nice.

After a small interaction with the crowd the band started the upbeat “Tonight I’m Alive” which had the crowd dancing along. I thought the interaction between the band members and the crowd was excellent. You felt like they put everything into the show. The next song was “Hellfire”. At the start of the song you could feel the building rumble as the crowd shouted Hellfire! They even had out a massive Visions of Atlantis flag which they waved above the crowd. visions of atlantis After the energetic song the band slowed for “The Dead Of The Sea” where they turned off all the lights and vocalist Michele Guaitoli emerged with a lantern and started the song showing off his majestic voice. The next song “Underwater”, a beautiful ballad that once again showed off Clémentine’s voice. After that they regained their energy with the crowd singing and dancing to The “Magic Of The Night” before closing their set with “Pirates Will Return” and “Melancholy Angel” during which they had the whole crowd jumping up and down and singing along. After a short break, where the crowd shouted for the band to come back, they played a small encore. During the first song, “Master The Hurricane” they made the whole crowd sit on the floor rowing like an Amon Amarth show . For the final song “Armada” they made the crowd sing the backing vocals. After a short practice the whole building shook to the words “Hail Jolly Roger” and “Armada”. A terrific finale to a spectacular show visions of atlantis

Overall this was one of the best shows I have been to this year. All the bands and the crowd were amazing and super chill. Both Seraina Telli and Ilumishade were terrific support acts and Visions of Atlantis delivered an amazing set. where they transported the crowd to a pirate world with an amazing stage show. I managed to catch a drumstick from Ilumishade and a setlist from Visions of Atlantis. I managed to get both signed by members of the band.
